Electric Vehicles: The White Elephant That Belongs to the Zoo!

Do not throw away, I repeat, DO NOT throw away your driving or motorcycle gloves just for the sake of driving an electric vehicle.

Electric vehicles are simply a quick fix to the current system. Yes, okay, we are all going to have to use less energy, which could also include using less plastic garbage and being more rational with our daily use of our vehicle. But, electric vehicles are no the answer! Electric vehicle development is still in the lab and we need to find better ways to store and refuel electricity.

Most of the newer electric cars can reach speeds of 85 miles per hour. But, for a range of only about 90 miles and an eight hour recharge. A lap on the Isle of Man TT and an electric bike is flat! How could you see that? How could you justify putting on a pair of leather motorcycle gloves to do that? The sight of a racing bike leaning on a sweeper without the characteristic sound of accelerating internal combustion power is completely incomprehensible. Even sacrilege! No, only when something better is invented, is it time to develop serious motorcycles and cars.

Despite their ‘green’ image, electric vehicles are less efficient and more polluting than the gasoline they want to replace. They are not very “green” at all. They are ‘white’ and they are elephants! The electric vehicle craze is nothing but insane. Let’s be honest, the only race an electric bike can win is against another. How boring is that? Forget protective clothing and motorcycle gloves … it would be slower than watching lawnmower or turtle races! Why? Because batteries are heavy and ineffective.

Don’t fool yourself by sitting on the ‘electric bike crowd’ and think that by doing so you are doing your best ecological, environmental and ideological for society. The planet will still warm! Despite what most people believe, a high percentage of the world’s electricity is produced using “dirty fuels” such as oil and coal. And this is NO will change soon. In fact, the more electric vehicles produced, the more the world will depend on “dirty fuels” to meet the growing demand for electricity. And another interesting fact for you to ponder is this. Even with stupid government subsidies, electric vehicles are priced higher than their gasoline or diesel equivalents.

Electricity as the first car or bicycle is useless. Sure, you can ride on or in one, but as soon as the weather turns down and you turn on your car heater and your range drops to about 30 miles, your chance of getting stranded on the highway during rush hour doubles. The answer is to travel on your gas equivalent and do everything else too, at any time and at any distance. Don’t spend all day going to work!

Put on your motorcycle gloves for a reason … common sense.
