Hungry for the sake of fashion – NO!

The only constant in this world is change. Cliché, but it’s true. It applies to almost everything but applies more to fashion. Fashion trends change from time to time. The change in trend means a change in your wardrobe. So changing your wardrobe means that you will have to buy a new one so that your wardrobe matches that of other people who, like most women, like to be “on trend.”

You can read in a fashion magazine that suede flats are so last season and gladiator ankle wedges are all the rage this fall. No matter. You will find yourself going to a boutique buying your new pair of ankle gladiator wedges, right? And guess what? When winter comes, it will be “the last season” again.

Then what do you do? You go to the boutique again and buy another pair that is “like this this season.” Then comes the next season and his new pair is off season again and it never stops. The cycle continues until you find your closet filled with a bunch of pairs that you can’t even remember when you wore them … or if you ever wore them, all for the simple fact of being “in”.

Actually, you can be “in” all the time. You only need to remember one word all the time: recycle.

You don’t always need to update your wardrobe with what’s new and what’s hot today. What you need are those that always stay “in” no matter what season comes.

Like jeans, for example. Believe me, they are ALWAYS in style. You just need to know what type of jeans you should wear and for what. Jeans change their style, but you can always wear them at any time of year and for any occasion, even in some formal gatherings. They never go outside the fashion level for the simple reason that they are comfortable, easy to style, and cheap.

Classic pumps are also always present. You can wear them when you go to work, school, church, and of course to parties. It goes with anything and who cares if you wear them every day? If people notice in a way that offends you, why bother? It is a matter of mind over matter. You don’t care, they don’t matter.

Simply put, splurge on clothes, shoes and accessories as much as you want. There is nothing wrong with that (as long as you can pay for them, of course). Just make sure that when you shop, it’s a really good buy, lasts long, and never goes out of style.
