Three classic Christmas DVDs

Christmas is a family time. Moms and dads snuggle up next to their children on the couch, perhaps sipping punch or eating gingerbread. The climax of the Christmas spirit, in my opinion, has always been watching Christmas DVD together. There is nothing that conveys the message of Christmas better. Here are some all-time classics that are available as Christmas DVD And that will surely add to your Christmas movie watching experience.

A Charlie Brown Christmas

Produced in 1965, this was one of the first television specials to become a Christmas tradition. In this Peanuts cartoon, Charlie Brown is honored to direct his school’s Christmas play. He agrees, but it turns out to be a frustrating struggle. When an attempt to restore proper spirit with a small, abandoned fir tree fails, he needs Linus’ help to learn what the true meaning of Christmas is. What is especially beautiful about this television special is how the filmmakers managed to convey exactly this message.

It’s a wonderful life

Although this movie is not as holiday-centric as A Charlie Brown Christmas or others, it became a Christmas classic. The story is about the life of George Bailey, one of the kindest people you’ve probably ever met. One Christmas night, Bailey does not see the true value in his life and wants to commit suicide, but is saved by an angel who tries to convince George of how valuable he has been to the entire community of his hometown. While only the finale to It’s a Wonderful Life takes place during the holiday season, it’s nonetheless a full-fledged Christmas classic that leaves you with a smile on your face and a desire to do good like George Bailey.

A christmas story

This is probably the funniest Christmas movie ever made. The main character is Ralphie, 9 years old. His biggest wish for Christmas is an official Red Ryder 200-shot carbine action BB rifle with a compass on the butt. The film follows the trials she must endure and the obstacles she must overcome to make her wish come true. This Christmas comedy has so many remarkable scenes that I don’t even know where to start. One that caught my eye was the family trip to the local department store where Ralphie finally gets a chance to sit on Santa’s lap and express his wish. But the words stick in his throat.

I know that with this little summary of Christmas DVD I barely scratched the surface of what is available on the market. I can’t keep up with new releases myself. But you should definitely take a look at these classics before venturing into the wide ocean of Christmas DVD.
