Bajaj Discover 100T vs. Honda Dream Yuga

In the Indian two-wheeler industry, there is a high demand for fuel-efficient bicycles of smaller capacity. Nearly 70% of the two-wheelers sold in India are 100 or 125cc scooters or bicycles. The Bajaj Discover and the Honda Dream are two popular bikes in the 100cc segment.

The Bajaj Discover introduced in 2004 has the Discover 100T versions launched in 2013. The Drum and Disc variants of the Discover 100T have ex-showroom prices of Rs 47,132 and Rs 48,921 respectively. The Discover 100 T comes in Black with Blue, Black with Green, Black with Red, and Fire Red. The Dream comes in Sport Black, Vibrant Blue, Majestic Green, All Black, and Sport Red. The sleek Yuga has a modern hood, stylish grab bar and cool graphics. The Discover has an additional trip meter, but the Dream Yuga has additional low-oil and low-battery indications. The Discover has a 5 Ah battery and pilot lamp type headlights, while the Dream Yuga has a 4 Ah battery with MFR headlights.

The Discover 100T uses 4 valve/twin plug per cylinder engines. Its 102cc, 10bhp, 9NM engine is more powerful than the Dream’s 109cc, 8bhp, 9NM engine. The Discover has a better mileage of 84 kmpl than the Dream’s 72 kmpl. The Discover has a 5-speed manual transmission and the Yuga a 4-speed. The Dream Yuga has a better top speed of 97 km/h and it takes 8 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 60 km/h and the Discover 100T takes 7.5 seconds and reaches a top speed of 87 km/h.

The Discover weighs 121 kg compared to 109 kg for the Dream Yuga. The 165mm ground clearance and 1305mm wheelbase are better than the Dream’s 161mm and 1285mm wheelbases. The Discover has a 10 (3.5 reserve) liter capacity fuel tank and the Dream Yuga 8 (2.3 reserve) liters.
