Big Brother Season 12 – Is Revenge Coming?
Call it the season of shows. Big Brother 12 began on July 8, 2010, but it wasn’t long before physicist Brendon fell for chemistry graduate/cocktail waitress Rachel. The two connected almost immediately after entering the house. The first week, the house focused on another twist: the spoiler. One of the guests lived there to make the others miserable by playing pranks on them. The guests didn’t know it, but the Saboteur would get $50,000 if he could stay five weeks in the house.
Speculation as to who the Saboteur was ran rampant through the house. Many thought that he was Andrew because he voluntarily did not participate in the first Head of Household (HOH) competition and therefore he received immunity. Some thought it was Kathy because of her poor performance in the HOH competitions.
Hayden became the first HOH and the house wouldn’t have to worry about the saboteur for long. After a few episodes, America learned that he was Annie. Hayden introduced Rachel and Brendon, but Brendon won the Power of Veto (POV) after getting enough letters to spell the word “understanding” in the competition. He removed himself from the block and was replaced by Annie. By unanimous vote on the 13th, Annie became the first houseguest to be evicted. The guests soon learned that they had unknowingly knocked out the saboteur the first time.
For the second HOH, the power couple continued to rule as Rachel won. Rachel nominated Britney and Monet. Britney won the POV and used it to get out of the block. Rachel replaced Britney with Matt, but Monet was the second houseguest evicted.
The tables were turned in week three when Matt won the HOH. Matt, Lane, Enzo, and Hayden had formed their Brigade alliance early in the game. Matt nominated Andrew, with the promise that he was a pawn, and Kathy. Brendon gained the POV but opted not to use it. After a scathing speech in which he called out Hayden and Kristen’s new show and pointed out people who were talking behind each other’s backs, Andrew, aka Captain Kosher, was kicked out of the house.
In week four, Rachel won HOH again and she and Brendon kept control of the game. She also won $5,000, which she could give to another guest for any reason. Kristen had to wear a hippie-tard – a tie dye unitard. Rachel took aim at the new show by putting Hayden and Kristen on the block. Britney won the POV for the second time and kept the nominations the same despite Hayden working on her to change them. Kristen was kicked out of the house and Rachel was upset with Kathy for showing sympathy towards Kristen.
Power returned to the Brigade in week 5 as Matt won HOH again. Matt chose to open Pandora’s Box and gained the diamond POV, which he could use on the next two evictions to save someone and name the replacement. But, by opening Pandora’s box, he unleashed a new saboteur on the house. The United States voted for Ragan to fill the position, and he accepted it. If he completes two weeks as a spoiler, he’ll win $20,000.
Matt nominated Brendon and Rachel for eviction. The POV competition was bowling and Rachel and Brendon practiced all night. Still, they both lost early on, with Brendon so frustrated that he tossed the bowling ball overhand, nearly hitting Jeff and Jordan, who had come on as guest hosts for the competition. Britney won the POV and even though Rachel offered her the $5,000, Britney knew that everyone in the house wanted either Rachel or Brendon out of the house and refused to accept it in exchange for using the POV.
Brendon tried to put the target on his back to save Rachel, but she was unanimously evicted from the house on Day 41. The saboteur told the house that they may not have seen the last evicted guest and Julie told Rachel that maybe not I’ve seen the last of the house. Rachel became the first member of the jury.
Brendon vowed to avenge his ouster and won HOH in week 6.
As a loner in the house, will Brendon be able to continue in the game? Will a floater like Ragan or Kathy offer to team up with him to go against the Brigade? Season 12 will conclude on September 15 when someone is named the winner.
