Dangerous dog food, what you MUST know if you love your pet

It would blow your mind if you really knew how much food is dangerous for dogs.

Sure, we’ve all heard time and again that we shouldn’t overfeed your dog. Many otherwise loving pet owners simply don’t know how many varieties of our “people’s” foods are dangerous, if not deadly, to their dog.

For starters, let’s look at garlic and onion. I don’t know about you, but these are mandatory ingredients in almost all of my cooking, especially Italian cuisine, and they are great for our health. However, these vegetables can have a devastating effect on your dog’s health. A dog’s constitution can only support a very small dose of these, ideally it is best if they had none.

I don’t know about you, but I grew up with the little raisin girl “raisin-maid” and to this day she is my favorite item of any trail mix that I eat. Also, any type of grape, be it red or green, is a regular part of my healthy diet. As these are beneficial and healthy for us and a preferred snack that I give to my children, they are very bad for our dog’s health.

Did you know that raw pork is also a very dangerous food for your dog? If they eat some of this raw meat, it is very possible that they will acquire an incurable diseased digestive condition. If you really need to feed them pork, you can overcook it or freeze it for at least 3 weeks to make it safe and no longer a dangerous food for your dog.

It is also imperative that you never feed your dog avocados, as the seed, pulp, and skin are poisonous to dogs.

Macadamia nuts are one of the most dangerous foods for dogs. Also, most other forms of walnuts are questionable and a loving pet owner would be responsible for avoiding all of them.

At the top of the list is chocolate! Most of us know that this deliciously deadly food is very toxic to our dogs and you should never give it to a friend as it is the most dangerous of all foods for your dog.

Now this may be the most controversial dangerous food for your dog of all. That food is bones. I know you are telling yourself that bones are a natural pleasure for dogs. That bones are what they could eat if they were wild. How is it possible that bones are toxic to dogs? Let me tell you that “raw” bones are great for your dog’s health and are actually good for your dog. However, the “cooked” bones are out. The problem with cooked bones is that they can easily splinter and cause internal lacerations in your digestive tract – not good! So, stop giving your dogs a cooked bone. If you’re going to grill that steak, take the time beforehand and cut the bone before you cook it. If that’s too much to do, just get a boneless sirloin or NY Strip off the bone.

I hope you have learned a thing or two regarding dangerous foods for your dog and that you will prevent any future harm to your beloved pet. I didn’t know these facts until it was too late, as I lost my dear “Daisy” the hound last year to toxic overload on her liver, which was already weakened since she got into something bad as a puppy. May you follow this advice and be blessed with a long and healthy relationship with your dog.
