Discount Lift Tickets at Supermarkets – King Soopers, Costco and Safeway Ski Deals

On the hunt for lift tickets at grocery stores

In the 1990s and early 2000s, there was a huge movement in the ski industry to partner with grocery stores and local ski rental places to sell discount lift tickets. Today, passes are still sold at grocery stores, but sadly fares are no longer discounted. Even off-peak, prices at King Soopers, Safeway, Costco, and Albertsons grocery stores are the same as ski resorts.

It is common knowledge within the ski industry that buying your tickets in advance can save you a lot of time. With the advent of online brokers, deals and discount ski passes are easily found online. Just a simple search for discount rates at your favorite ski resort will lead you to many options you may not know are available to you. Before spending your valuable time in the car looking for deals at supermarkets like Safeway, King Soopers, or Costco, check online first.

1. Discounted King Soopers Cable Car Tickets

King Soopers is the grocery store best known for selling passes. This is especially true for Colorado skiers or those visiting the place on vacation. In years past, King Soopers had good prices at every major store in Colorado. This has changed in recent years, especially for peak season periods. Discounts at King Soopers no longer exist during peak seasons (Thanksgiving, Christmas, President’s Weekend, and most of March). In the off-season, ticket rates at most grocery stores are the same as what you’d find at the ticket window.

2. Safeway Discount Ski Passes

The specials on lift passes at Safeway are very similar to those at King Soopers and the price you pay depends on what time of year you plan to ski. It is advisable to book your lift tickets online in advance, rather than waiting until the last minute.

3. Costco Discount Skiing

Costco reportedly has deals for skiers in California and Utah, but the discounts don’t exist in Colorado. The price of various ski resorts in the Utah and California region varies widely depending on when you want to hit the mountain. Check your local Costco outlet for options. Or if you prefer to save gas, money and time, look for better deals online. Most online travel portals that sell discount ski tickets will send you confirmation by email. After that, all you have to do is print your confirmation and take it to the ticket office to redeem your ski passes.

4) REI Stores

Some REI stores sell lift tickets through their connection with Ticket West. Prices vary depending on the season.
