Getting noticed in healthcare marketing isn’t easy

Getting noticed on the Internet is not an easy game, it requires a lot of work and effort, but above all it requires focus and knowledge of your subject. In the health marketing game there are 2 ways one should look at healthcare marketing strategies;

  1. Old fashioned, traditional marketing ventures, TV commercials, long-term print strategies, etc.
  2. The way it really works health marketing the digital way.

I have just returned from a major medical travel conference where a prominent and obvious difference between my company and the old Madison Avenue, Chicago style marketing companies is;

THEY ARE ALL GREEDY!

I’m not making this up, the main difference as a digital marketing company and my esteemed competitors (laugh out loud) is that not a single proposal I heard said anything about generating leads and actual customers in the foreseeable future. It was about “with the right brand and media run dates, we can assure you that your brand will achieve at least a blah blah percentage of total market share in your immediate niche versus your competition within 2 years. That will be $40k please. I mean I’m really laughing out of my seat here.

I can get clients and prospects RIGHT NOW!

That’s right folks, this is the internet and I can leverage your marketing dollars right now and turn them into real leads for your company. What I’m seeing is that these bigger guys are interested in keeping every penny for themselves and little to nothing will be divvied up among the myriad agencies and avenues that allow the savvy healthcare marketer to get immediate leads for their clients. I would rather have a long-term client and be able to point to real-world results than cheat them with a fat deposit and a short-term contract that is almost always broken prematurely because there is no delivery at the end. Except, of course, for furniture delivery to the pompous circus pitchman with a gift to Gab’s house after convincing her poor, dumb CMO of $49k.

But these guys have a lifestyle to maintain!

Look, I’ve been to the homes of the owners of these big marketing companies and I can tell you that I certainly understand why they need to keep all of their money. Well, fuck that. These guys should be out of business and let in the new guard who really cares about the customer, more than his $20k fish tank and the view from the hill. Getting noticed in healthcare marketing is about making the right decision with the right company that will show real results and give you the leads and business to prove it. Without stealing his wife’s furniture and diamonds, of course.
