Spain is a firm favorite among golf enthusiasts and attracts thousands of golfers each year. Whatever your handicap, Spain is one of the best places to practice your sport for many reasons; Spain offers a long golf season due to its excellent weather conditions, there are more than 300 courses with 16 rustic courses, traveling to Spain is easy and there are many golf courses within a few kilometers of the international airports. On a holiday in Spain, it’s easy to combine a relaxing beach holiday, discovering the country’s rich heritage and, of course, your favorite sport. The list of things to do and see is endless!

Enjoy your sport while you discover the World Heritage Cities of Spain. You can play a round of golf on a course surrounded by mountains or with impressive views of the sea. You can then stroll through the streets steeped in history before kicking back with some traditional Spanish cuisine. Córdoba, Segovia, Salamanca and Santiago de Compostela are perfect for a combined culture and golf getaway, as all of these cities have a nearby golf course.

You will have many options from the Costa Brava to the Costa del Sol, the coastal regions of Valencia and Murcia and even the Balearic and Canary Islands. Most of the courses are in Tenerife and Gran Canaria, but there are also courses in Lanzarote, Fuerteventura and La Gomera.

All the clubs in Alicante are close to each other, so you can play near the main tourist area, by the sea or between forests and mountains, so you won’t have to travel far to try the different courses.

Fancy something a little different? Why not try one of the ecological rustic courses? These courses have been created using the natural environmental elements with very little impact on the landscape. The ‘greens’ are sandy, on the rough ones there are bushes and the grass feeds on rainwater. There are 16 rustic courses in Spain, some are 18 holes but most are 9 holes. You will find most of these rustic fields inland in places like Madrid, Castilla y León, Castilla-La Mancha, Barcelona and Huelva.
