Hexagonal Gazebo Plans: Steps to Create a Six Sided Gazebo
A gazebo is usually built in the shape of an octagon, but with the help of the right hexagonal gazebo plans, you can build a distinctive gazebo with six sides. It will add an inimitable charm to your garden. Although it may seem intimidating, it’s really easy to plan and build. Making this structure is quite similar to making an octagonal one. The following are instructions you can use to create one yourself.
Base: A simple foundation can easily be created with concrete. Select a suitable location for your gazebo. A hexagonal gazebo has a distinctive shape and may or may not fit into any setting. A suitable place will enhance your beauty and grace. Clean this place deep. Remove weeds, rocks and stones if any. Dig up the mounds of dirt and fill in the holes. Flatten the soil with a large, heavy roller.
Now, to make the floor, mix a basic concrete mix following the instructions on the bag. Spread this mixture evenly and tamp it down properly on the previously cleaned floor. Try to avoid landslides and ditches. Now you can lay tiles, wooden decking, etc. on this layer of concrete to give it a sophisticated touch. Your plastered area should be around 10 square feet. Let it dry for a day.
Drill holes: The next step in these hexagon gazebo plans is to dig holes around the circle you created earlier. If you haven’t plastered your concrete in a circular shape, don’t worry, just draw a rough circle with the help of a string. Mark your center. Now using a piece of string and chalk as a compass, divide the circle into six equal parts. These marks will serve as the points where the holes will be dug. Using a shovel, dig 12-inch-deep holes at these marks.
Publications: Take 6 pieces of wood that are 14 feet each. These must be seasoned wood and must be of equal length and width. Use round posts. Bury each of these posts one by one in each hole, but instead of using dirt to fill the holes, use a concrete mix. Let them dry for a day or two.
head beams: If the concrete has dried, check if all the posts are the same height. If not, cut off the top so they are even. To make a mantle for your structure, use 6 4×4 wood posts. These should be about 40″ long. Nail seasoned wood posts on top of previously buried post posts. For additional support, use metal strapping. Trim any rough edges.
With reinforcements you can enhance the beauty of your gazebo. Buy some pre-made gazebo brackets from the market and nail them to the wall studs.
Top: You now need a set of 6 wooden posts. These should not exceed 74″ in height. You will also need a small wooden beam to serve as the center. Screw these 74″ posts firmly into the center one by one. You must take into account maintaining an angle of 45 degrees. It will form a hexagonal cone. Raise this cone over the top of your posts with some help so that each corner matches up. Nail these posts.
The ceiling: Measure the triangular window as spaces made by each face of the hexagonal top. Trace this onto plywood. Cut six of those pieces accordingly. Nail each of these from the inside of the top, then apply the shingles. So, according to your hexagonal gazebo plans, you are done.
