How do water cooled spiral chillers work?

Water-cooled spiral chillers is a refrigeration system used to cool fluids and dehumidify the surrounding air. Working the same as air-cooled chillers, water-cooled scroll chillers also follow the same basic principles of evaporation and condensation. These water-cooled scroll chillers are used in a wide variety of industrial and commercial settings. Highly efficient and easy to install, these water-cooled scroll chillers are ideal for any hotel, hospital, or industry, etc. Several prominent air conditioning companies such as Bluestar, Daikin’s, Voltas, Carriers also manufacture their own industrial water chillers, water cooling coils, etc.

Structure:

A single closed unit of water-cooled spiral chiller consists of an evaporator, a condenser, a compressor, and an expansion valve. The evaporator is the main starting point. Here, the tank is filled with water or water mixture for recirculation. The evaporator with the help of a bundle of tubes surrounds the Central Chamber. Next, the Central Chamber is connected to the Compressor, in this case, we are talking about Scroll Coolers that use Scroll Compressor. The scroll compressor is also known as a scroll compressor due to its design. Then the compressor is connected to the condenser that is connected again to the evaporator to repeat the cycle. These are the basic elements and structure of the water cooled scroll chiller.

Difference between air cooled chillers and water cooled chillers?

The operation of air-cooled chillers and water-cooled chillers is similar. Both consist of an evaporator, a compressor, a condenser and an expansion valve. The main point of difference lies in the fact that one uses air to power the condenser cooling while the other uses water.

This big difference of using water instead of air is also an advantage point for water chillers, as the wet surface is more efficient to transfer heat compared to air-cooled chillers.

How do water-cooled scroll chillers work?

The process begins by filling the tank with water or a water mixture for circulation. The cycle begins in the evaporator where the liquid refrigerant flows over the evaporator tube bundle and evaporates. It also absorbs heat from the cold water that circulates through the pack. As soon as the water reaches a high enough temperature, it begins to radiate heat back to the refrigerant in the evaporator, which produces vapors. With the help of a pipe or tube, this steam is passed through the compressor. Here, the scroll compressor uses its unique spiral design and two interlocking rolls to pump, compress and pressurize fluids. The most unique feature of the Scroll compressor is its ability to be quiet, it works very well in a sound sensitive environment. It has a sound pressure level as low as 72 DBA. The compressor then begins to raise the temperature of the condenser by pumping the refrigerant vapor into the condenser. The refrigerant condenses in the condenser tubes and gives up its heat to the cooling water. It is this high pressure liquid refrigerant that is then passed through an expansion device that reduces the refrigerant pressure and temperature when it enters the evaporator. The refrigerant flows back over the chilled water coils absorbing more heat and completing the cycle.

The market is flooded with options when it comes to industrial water chillers and their manufacturers. Almost all the prominent air conditioning companies are in the field of manufacturing and providing their services in this area as well. Each industrial chiller would also require maintenance and services after a specified period. This industry not only meets the demands of its customers, but also serves their services to make optimal use of technology.
