Jointless sinks, a great idea to improve your kitchen

The latest modern materials are creating a quiet revolution in the kitchen, with ever more affordable options of never-before-seen quality and value. This doesn’t just apply to kitchen countertops, where cutting techniques have put granite on an affordable stand for many, and where quartz has quietly gained market share for its convenience, rugged sturdiness, and simple good looks.

Modern manufacturing techniques have also improved the way sinks are made, and for this article we’ll take a look at Corian sinks and how they can add some wow to your kitchen.

Corian is manufactured by Dupont and is a completely synthetic material similar to stone. It has some great properties that should really make it worth considering even for a sink.

It’s completely non-porous so it won’t soak up water which can help breed bacteria. That also makes it quite resistant to stains. It’s also very tough, rock hard, and because it’s a “solid surface” material, scratches can be buffed out and even repaired with new sections.

And this is where it gets interesting for architects and kitchen designers: it can be thermoformed, that is, melted. This allows for seamless seams between Corian surfaces…including your countertop and sink.

While having a stainless steel sink has advantages, including excellent stain resistance and ease of replacement, a Corian sink and countertop solution has some great advantages.

For starters, the seams between different surfaces are a great place for dirt and bacteria to collect, and a sink without seams is much easier to clean. Then there’s the aesthetics… A corian countertop and sink combo has a sleek, modern look that packs a lot of wow factor. Sleek, clean and uncluttered lines, while it may not feel at home in a farmhouse, it looks amazing in a modern kitchen.

Corian sinks come in four colors: Glacier White, Cameo White, Bone and Vanilla and can be installed “Seamless” or “Classical”. Perfect is when all surfaces are flush, and Classic is when the countertop slightly overhangs the sink.

Also as an option, there is a combination model with a Corian bowl with a stainless steel base that is suitable for applications where chemicals, bleaching agents or dyes may be used.

So, when planning your new modern kitchen design, think about installing a Corian countertop and sink, it could be just the ultra-modern, clean and sleek look you need!
