life with a robot

Life with a robot, I hope you all are doing as well as possible, I was thinking about this for years, and yes, an online provider made it extremely easy with small fees that I decided to take the plunge, I will not share brand or provider, but I want to share the experience and I’m posting the link to the video that tipped the scales here, the guy is good.

The learning curve wasn’t as bad as I expected, no assembly required, once the unit arrived it was a matter of charging up and letting the house learn, two days later, a couple of bin cleanouts later, YES it mapped the house, I even learned how to use the mapping system to map the NO GO zones inside your house.

The biggest caveat is charging cords, and since I’ve seen some great videos on that I’m going the extra step to make sure the area doesn’t have any cords on the floor, it’s not going to be a good experience, keep those charging cords away.

Growing up in the 70’s/80’s, every time I saw a cleaning robot I always thought of the movie with KISS frontman – Gene/Magnum – Tom (1984), and it usually happened. But I had this purchase on my wish list forever. So far my robot hasn’t tried to kill me but I keep an eye on her yes you have to choose a name when you install the app so I chose something cute Robot 1 I’m still really scared and yes you can choose a male name for yours.

You can let the robot clean your house in one pass, but depending on the size, it will need some bin cleaning and might interfere with your schedule, so in my experience, let the full house mapping last the whole time. that is necessary. necessities, my took about 3/4 hours, some refills and bin cleaning happened in between. Once the house map was complete (using a phone app) I was able to divide the house into sections, I tried the scheduler but the app wanted to leave a 3 hour gap between cleaning so I discarded it and instead I saved “Jobs” and you get a button for “Living room”, “Kitchen”, etc.

Yes, you can connect with Alexa, but the reviews/experiences are mixed, for now I control with the phone app. Have fun, and just in case, keep your baseball beats handy :-).
