Premier League match time: Manchester United vs Tottenham Hotspur

Manchester United’s unbeaten run in this Premiership season is likely to be put to the test when they host Tottenham Hotspur to a late start on Saturday. United won both games last season against Spurs.

Ahead of the match, the brightest hope for the Old Trafford side is that Hernandez displays the form that helped beat Stolke in the week nine match for United’s first away win of the season. Chicharito or Little Pea, as the striker is known, added a winner against Wolves in Tuesday’s league cup match to herald himself as Sir Alex’s hottest new discovery.

As well as Hernandez, Bebe and Smalling also made their presence known at Stoke’s game. Together with Hernández, they have calmed nerves at Old Trafford in the absence of Valencia and Rooney. Berbatov and Nani will also have to play a crucial role against Spurs, especially against a weak defence, which has been United’s downfall this season, leading the team to lose the lead in six of nine games.

Spurs would be the freshest team of the day having had a whole week to prepare in the absence of any Carling Cup games, having been knocked out of the competition by Arsenal the week before.

For Spurs, Van der Vaart came to the party against Everton scoring the equalizer to keep Redknapp’s side in contention. Gareth Bale has been another revelation for the squad; his hat-trick against Inter Milan made him the talk of Europe after the Italian team won 4-0 at half-time in their Champions League match; the final score was 4-3.

Indeed, Bales’ presence on Spurs’ left flank is going to force Sir Alex’s hand and he will prefer not to retain Neville at right-back, the position he held against Stoke. Instead, we could see O’Shea tasked with tackling Bale with Evra manning the left-back position, in the absence of Ryan Giigs sidelined with injury.

However, Spurs have been poor travelers this season, and they will have to try to rectify that record against Manchester United’s 75,000 fans at Old Trafford on Saturday.

Dawson and Corlukka are both injured and that makes the baseline a concern for Redknapp. Gallas, Hutton, Assou-Ekotto and Bassong will have their hands full against a riotous Manchester United attack led by former Spurs striker Berbatov.

Manchester United’s starting eleven for the match will likely feature: Van der Sar, Vidic, Rafael, Evra, Ferdinand, Scholes, Fletcher, Anderson, Nani, Hernandez, Berbatov

Tottenham’s eleven on Saturday should be: Gomes, Gallas, Hutton, Assou-Ekotto, Bassong, Palacios, Lennon, Bale, Modric, Crouch, Van der Vaart
