Should SeaWorld be closed?

The politically correct crowd has targeted another business for extinction.

SeaWorld has come under fire for the way it treats its whales and dolphins. It has been claimed that animals are treated unfairly and keeping them in captivity is cruel and unusual punishment.

On the contrary, no evidence of ill-treatment has been accredited. By all indications, the animals are treated humanely, well fed, and protected from their natural predators. They are loved not only by their keepers but also by the general public.

Thousands of children come every year to enjoy their antics and learn more about the world around them, something very necessary in today’s society.

No evidence has been presented that the animals suffer due to their captive environment. In fact, animals would benefit from the attention and care they receive from their human counterparts. They don’t get any of that in the wild of the deep blue sea where they constantly have to be on their guard not to get eaten.

Many say it’s cruel to keep them locked up so they can’t roam the seas freely, I’m not so sure.

The same goes for animals in zoos and the circus. Most of the animals are well maintained and adequately fed. The owners have too much money invested in them to do otherwise. There are probably some cases where this is not true. Those cases must be handled individually, we must stop punishing everyone for the actions of a few.

I would ask these same people if they have a pet, such as a dog or cat.

I would remind them that cats and dogs once roamed freely in the great outdoors and were not domesticated.

What about goldfish or parakeets? They are also kept in a captive environment.

Perhaps we should release these animals, too, to roam free and be subject to the whims of their predators.

I don’t see any difference in taming whales and dolphins than taming dogs or cats.

In both cases, people and the animals themselves benefit. Humans really enjoy having domesticated animals around them, they have a lot of therapeutic value. The animals themselves benefit from being cared for, all their nutritional needs are met, they no longer have to fend off other animals that would want to make dinner of them, and their health needs are well taken care of as well.

It’s time we stood up to these organizations that spread false information about well-intentioned companies that provide us with an enjoyable and educational entertainment venue.

Keeping whales and dolphins in captivity is no different than keeping a pet dog or cat.

Thinking differently is ridiculous and narrow-minded.

It has been reported that attendance at SeaWorld parks has dropped by seventy five percent, losing SeaWorld and other parks like it would be an injustice not only to the parks but also to humanity. Let’s stop the madness.
