Storytelling: a time-honored tradition

Everyone likes a good story. From the old days when old people would gather children and tell them stories of the past, to modern groups in libraries where book authors read their stories, storytelling is a time-honored tradition. What makes the narrative so exciting depends on the storyteller. If the narrator is exciting and entertaining, then you can enjoy every minute of the story. The interesting thing about narration is that most of the stories that are told are based on real events. This not only gives you an interesting story, but also helps you learn something.

This time honored tradition offers many adventures for all to enjoy. Everyone has a grandfather or a grandmother who has told you that story of how they were in World War II or that they were part of the right to vote for Women. These stories not only offer knowledge and learning, they are part of your story. Learning about your ancestors through your immediate family is part of genealogy. Storytelling offers this and more. Everyone likes to sit and listen to their relatives tell them these kinds of stories. It gives them a sense of purpose because most of the time, stories always have a moral to whatever is being told.

Through the narration the possibility of bonding arises. Bonding with family or friends is an important part of our lives. These are our partners in life and it is always a good idea to draw knowledge from their experiences. There are times when the narrative is imagined and considered fiction, but because of the narrator, the story is entertaining. Having a good storyteller is vital to good storytelling. Many people in today’s society are forgetting this traditional tradition.

Forgetting to tell stories is never a good idea. Without this tradition, there would be more television, more video games, and altogether a waste of time. It is best to tell as many stories as you can to your children and grandchildren. Remembering this ancient tradition will improve your attitude towards stories.
