The 5 Cheapest Destinations to Fly to in the US

Flights are expensive. I often have enough hotel and car points to get free rooms and rentals, but I’ll still break the bank if I make the trip just for the flight.

Thing is, he eventually wanted to go out of driving distance. Who doesn’t want to see the world? Fortunately, there are certain destinations that are usually cheaper than others. If you can book early and get the price right, you might get a HUGE break.

1. Chicago – Consistently the cheapest flight price from just about anywhere in the US, Chicago is such a central hub of the country that airlines thankfully make it easy for just about anyone to get there. While it’s not the flashiest or biggest city, it has a lot to offer in terms of tourism, especially if you’ve never been!

2. Orlando: Fortunately for all Disney fans, Orlando ranks second when it comes to cheapest flight prices. This varies greatly by season, but generally your highest costs here will be Disney park tickets.

3. Washington DC: Another cheaper option throughout the year, Washington DC is always a solid option to visit. There’s tons of history, but it’s also a lively city if you’re looking for something more current. It’s obviously a political world if you have any interest in that, but even the architecture is fun to tour if you’re not. Cherry blossoms are beautiful in spring too!

4. New York City: Oh, New York. If you’ve never been, hop on a plane and check it out at least once. While the tickets aren’t as cheap as others on this list, they aren’t crazy either. Most flights have a stopover in New York City, so traveling there is feasible. The city is amazing (albeit expensive) with almost endless things to do.

5. Austin, Texas: Having never been to Austin, I can’t give a personal recommendation, but I was told it’s a fun but very spiritual city (go together?). I also know that again many flights have layovers here which generally makes it cheaper; It’s also not a great destination for leisure travel, so it’s likely to be less expensive than other tourism-based cities.

For extra discounts, try using apps that hide your browser location so airlines don’t check where you’re searching from and jack up prices (seriously, I’ve saved over $50 this way). Cheers to discount travel in the USA!
