The best Halloween movies for the whole family

Having an annual Halloween movie night for your family is a great way to celebrate the season together and create memories that will last for years to come.

While it might seem like blood and gore should be the focus of a Halloween movie, try some of these family-favorite movies.

“It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” – Not much needs to be said about this movie. It is a family classic and will be for many years. Buy the DVD and keep it in your family’s special movie collection.

“Pooh’s Heffalump Halloween Movie” – Rated G – Perfect for the very young, Winnie The Pooh and his likable crew of comrades will get even the youngest goblin in the mood for the big night.

“ET” – Rated PG – The whimsy and imagination of this timeless classic reminds us that the impossible is truly possible when we believe. (Remember that this can be emotional and a bit scary for younger children.)

“Monsters Inc.” – Rated G: This movie offers a fun and non-threatening take on the relationship between “monsters” and humans.

“Casper” – Rated PG – In this Steven Spielberg live-action film, human actors and special effects “Casper” shows everyone’s favorite ghost in some hilarious and compromising moments.

“Bednobs & Broomsticks” – Rated G – This timeless Disney film has music and mayhem and plenty to keep the little ones entertained.

“Scooby Doo’s Creepiest Capers” – Not Rated – This is a fun collection of Scooby’s creepiest cases. Along with his silly group of cohorts, there are always plenty of laughs when Scooby-Doo is on screen.

“Wallace & Gromit, The Curse Of The Were Rabbit” – Rated G – The great thing about this movie is that these characters, while they look completely real, are made of clay. Kids will love watching Wallace come up with inventions and may even want to talk about the inventions he can create.

“The Nightmare Before Christmas” – Rated PG – While there’s a lot going on in this movie that’s great for bringing Halloween and Christmas together, younger kids might find it a bit creepy. Stay close to them and the whole family can enjoy this one that has great music and scenes.
