The history of the Boston Bruins

The history of the Boston Bruins dates back to the very beginning of the NHL. The Bruins are home to Boston Massachusetts and are in the Northeast NHL division, which is part of the Eastern Conference. In 1924, the Bruins were introduced to the NHL and the Bruins became the first united statistics hockey team. Toronto Maple Leafs, Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers, Montreal Canadians and Chicago Black Hawks, these teams will be known as the original six, because they were the first hockey teams in the NHL. The Boston Bruins have the second most Stanly Cup wins with five, second only to the Detroit Red Wings who have eleven. The Bruins Play at the TD Bank Garden Witch is located in the heart of Boston.

The Bruins would finish last with a 6-24 record, despite winning the first hockey game in history on December 1, 1924. In 1929, the Bruins had their best winning season, with a winning percentage of .875, and they’ve won 38 of 44 games, which remains the best hockey winning season of any NHL team. In 1929, the Bruins would land in the Stanly Cup Final but lose to the Montreal Canadians, which would be the beginning of a long rivalry. The Boston Bruins would be the first NHL team to sing for an African American named Willie O’re, who was the first black man to play in the NHL.

The two days leading up to world war for the Boston Bruins were very good for the team, they won almost every game and finished in the Stanly Cup final more times than they didn’t. The Bean Town hockey team would go through a 29-year drought, which would not end until the 1970s. Bobby Orr scored the game-winning goal in overtime that would end the drought and win the Stanly Cup. The Boston Bruins had a very good winning streak in the ’80s, but it would be short-lived, because in the mid-’90s the Bruins went through some very rough times. Finally, in 2007, the Bruins acquired head coach Claude Julien and would bring back the old main jersey logo from 1932, placing it on the side of their jerseys as a mini logo. Just like any other NHL team, the Boston Bruins had some ups and downs, but that’s what makes hockey great.
