Tips for implementing antique coffee tables in your home

Do you have vintage coffee tables that you would love to implement in your home?

Designing your home can be a difficult task in and of itself, but that’s nothing compared to putting up an old coffee table after you’ve designed the room in which it will be placed. There is one thing you need to know about implementing an antique coffee table in your home:

These tables are meant to complement the furnishings around them, not be the center of attention.

With that said, let’s move on. I want to give you 4 tips to better implement old coffee tables in your home.

1. Never change the table itself: When you have an old piece of furniture in your home, you never want to change the look of the piece itself, always change the look of other furniture first. You don’t have to paint anything or add color to it, but simply adding candles or something to the top of the table can change the whole feel.

2. Never place a flat square table against a wall – what this does is make the table look like a piece of the wall and takes away from the design and nature. I highly recommend leaving at least 4 inches of space between anything and the piece.

3. Get 2 tables – If you only have one table, that’s fine, but you really should try to get another table to complement it. Now, on the other hand, if you have more than one piece, you’ll want to keep them in the same room, but don’t put them in common places, like on either side of a sofa. Think outside the box, you have to remember that this is about antique furniture.

4. Never cover it: The first rule I have when it comes to antique coffee tables is to never cover them for any reason. There’s no point in having a big piece of furniture if you’re never going to show it off. Just like you would if you had a Ferrari parked in the garage, you’d take it out from time to time so everyone could at least see it.

Knowing as much as you can about rare design and furniture will really help you when you implement them in your home. If you want to learn more about how to implement small coffee tables in your home, click here.
