Tips for Peak Figure Competition Week

When you make the decision to compete in your first figure competition, it can be a scary thought and a confusing journey. Many first-time competitors read everything they can online in hopes of putting together the perfect figure plan. If they make it to the peak week, they can mess things up by making costly last-minute mistakes.

In this short but informative article, I’m going to reveal tips for peak week of figure competition so you don’t look like a sore thumb on stage, or worse, smooth as a baby’s bottom.

Tip #1: Your goal the last week before your figure contest is to just call. All the fat burning work has been done in the previous months of preparation. Don’t enter your peak week by doing hours of endless, high-intensity cardio. This will only flatten you when you’re on stage.

Tip #2: The diet for the last week before the figure competition will also be VERY different from the previous months of figure preparation. Peak Week isn’t about fat loss, it’s about exhausting your muscles so you can fill them up and it’s about simple, natural water manipulation techniques to draw water from under your skin and into your muscle cells. This double action will give you that finely sculpted look that judges just drool over.

Tip #3: Calculating the peak week of the competition is a method many don’t understand, and if you mess up the day before the competition, it will hold water on the stage and soften. One thing you MUST NOT eat the day before or the morning of your figure contest is oatmeal! Oats EXPAND in water and will puff you up, soften you up, and put you at the back of the line.

Tip #4 – Use weight training to your advantage last week. Again, peak week of figure competition is not about fat loss or muscle gain. Your last week’s workout should be a simple glycogen depletion workout. The more glycogen you can pump out of your muscles, the better your muscle cells can pump when you implement a light carb-increasing tactic.

A peak week of figure competition is necessary, and proper implementation of the peak week will give you an unfair advantage on stage, showing the judges and audience that you are the best and should be selected as the winner.
