Science: curse or blessing?
The conceptual satisfaction of a person is achieved through religion, philosophy and the finest literature. However, the practical satisfaction of human needs is done through technology, basic and advanced. Science is the knowledge that bridges the gap between the conceptual and practical fulfillment of various human needs. In addition, science gives authenticity to religious, philosophical, literary and technological works. Rectify everyone’s shortcomings.
The word science has its origin in the Latin word ‘Science’ meaning ‘Knowledge’This is the knowledge achieved through practices and studies on nature and the universe. Also everything that can be explained in mathematical terms is called science. When there was no science we had conjectural and obscure knowledge about things and events. Scientists are people who have expert knowledge about science; they explore material things and try to discover patterns and rules to explain what they are and how they work.
I believe that science can be stated as a blessing but also as a curse. It depends on two factors; first, how people use and think about it (people who think and use science negatively are affected negatively, but people who think and use science positively are affected positively). Now, it should be noted that people who are negatively affected by science may refer to it as a curse, but people who are positively affected may recognize it as a blessing. In other words, it is our mindset and approach that makes it a blessing or a curse. Second, when a bad leader encourages engineers or pseudoscientists to horrible inventions of science that are harmful to us and our society, people say science is a curse, but then when a good leader motivates engineers towards human technology that saves us and our society from terrible inventions, people refer to science as a blessing. Therefore, it is the category of new inventions that make people excited/despair towards science, whether it is a curse or a blessing.
Practically, there are many advantages and disadvantages of science. Some people use science inappropriately and incorrectly, this incorrect use of science is the only reason that creates disadvantages for science, but its benefits are immeasurable. I think the greatest advantage of science is that it provides concrete and coordinated knowledge about things and events. After this, science provides the foundation for technology that solves our myriad problems and gives us peace of mind in different life situations. Technology is the set of tools, including machinery, modifications, arrangements, and procedures used by human beings. In other words, anything that benefits humanity is called technology, and technology is the result of science. Also Edward Teller said that Today’s science is tomorrow’s technology.
If we look at the disadvantages of science, we see that sometimes people prepare terrible things by using it inappropriately, for example, science provides bases for harmful weapons, etc. There is no doubt that science gives concrete knowledge about everything, but sometimes scientists make inappropriate comments about religious truths, that is, about God and life after death. The biggest disadvantage of technology, which is a branch of science, is that it takes us away from people, ourselves and nature. Also sometimes technology has negative effects on our environment, for example, vehicles and factories cause pollution, which is the main reason for global warming.
In order to abolish the inappropriate use of science and technology, we must put an institutional limit on all these negative uses of science and technology that are harmful to our society and the environment, so that it can contain the wrongdoers and the Earth. becomes a peaceful and pleasant place for humans/non-humans.
