Setting And Achieving Handyman Business Goals: How To Make $100K Per Year As A Handyman

There are six main categories of goal setting in which a Handyman business owner should set goals, measure their progress toward those goals, and work hard to achieve them. As he’s still reading this, I suspect he might be interested in knowing what those six categories of goals are. Well, I won’t let you down.

For the most part, let’s start with the end in mind and work backwards.

Determine your income or money goal. If you want to earn $100,000 per year in income from your Handyman business, then use that as your goal and work through the rest of your goals to figure out what you would need to do to earn that amount per year.

How many clients would you need to have at your target rate to earn that amount of money with all your expenses deducted in order for your Handyman business to actually be able to pay you that $100,000 per year?

If you’re consistently closing three out of five people you offer an offer to, then we can calculate the ultimate goal, and my favorite, the number of leads generated goal.

The other goals you’ll want to set are your goals related to the people you’ll need on your team in your ultimate vision of where you want your Handyman business to be. If you’re not the marketing type, you might want to hire someone to handle your marketing. If you’re not the accounting type, you might want a bookkeeper or an accountant or both to handle bookkeeping and bookkeeping. Not really interested in swinging a hammer yourself? No problem, you can own the Handyman business and have someone else actually provide their core service to customers.

What about the systems and tools you’ll need to run your business? Do you have specific goals for what you will need? Need a formal sales presentation? Do you need a system to tender jobs? Do you need tools to make your sales presentation or bids? Set those goals so you know what you’re working toward.

What type of person would you need to become in order to have a Handyman business that is creating the lifestyle and income you envision with your goals? What additional knowledge would you need? What kind of beliefs would you need? What kind of activity would you do on a daily basis? How would you act around people if you were already running that kind of business? Believe it or not (and you should believe it), the only reason you don’t already have that type of business is this “inner game” or lack of personal growth and education. So why not set goals for the type of person you would need to be and the knowledge, skills and education you would need and go after it?
