Top 3 tips for buying office furniture

The topic of office furniture is about as exciting as watching grass grow for some people. Usually, these people see buying office furniture as a necessary evil forcing them to search through the many offers from different manufacturers to finally find the perfect piece they have been looking for. While the theme of chairs and other furniture may seem a bit boring to the new buyer, there are many ways to make it exciting. Yes. Exciting!

1) Let’s start with eBay. Guess what? eBay is one of the biggest (if not the biggest) shopping experiences in the world right now (and probably in the near future). eBay has grown tremendously over the past few years and is currently the largest used car dealer on the planet. How does this relate to your furniture? Simple. It can be purchased on eBay. And cheap. I regularly buy 50% off items on eBay. Maybe someone had a business that didn’t do so well and now all their equipment is for sale on eBay. Your loss is your gain. Why pay $800 for a new chair when you can buy a gently used one for $250? Easy peasy. eBay is the way to go.

2) Don’t buy more than you really need. Office furniture is quite versatile. Buying a slightly larger desk can replace two smaller ones if you know how to organize it correctly. In fact, buying a large used office unit can cost only ¼ of what 2 small new pieces of furniture cost. The key is to buy the best bang for the buck.

3) Consider leasing or renting your furniture. This is good advice – I’m sorry to say I can’t take credit for it. This is a fantastic way to keep your cash flowing in your pocket while enjoying the benefits of a new office. New chairs, new desks, new everything – all for a very low starting price. The most important thing to keep in mind here is to make sure that you are actually getting a good deal. To say that there are scammers out there is an understatement. Please read the fine print carefully and make sure what you are paying for is less than buying outright. However, with a little preparation, it really isn’t that hard to get a good deal on renting or leasing. Check it out.
