Why I Value a Charlotte Mason Philosophy

Charlotte Mason predominantly believed in the general “training” of a child, the education of the whole child, and how to raise children in a positive manner. Charlotte Mason lived in a time in the late 19th century when children were not really considered “whole people.” Children were more accepted if they were seen but not heard. They were taught to speak only when spoken to. They had no more rights than a stray dog ​​could. Poor children were considered an even lower class than that.

I think this was very sad for her. Miss Mason believed that children were real, special people, with their own thoughts and feelings, and worth listening to. She herself wanted to hear what those thoughts might be. To teach them that indeed there is a living God who made them. May this living God not consider them worthless errors.
